On February 28, our partners Rachel Lowe, Adrià San José Plana, and Diana Urquiza hosted a workshop to gather stakeholder feedback on the #EpiOutlookPlatform and its underlying indicators.
Developed within the IDAlert project by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), EpiOutlook is a climate-sensitive forecasting tool designed to predict infectious disease outbreaks. By integrating climate projections, epidemiological risk indicators, and real-time data, the platform provides decision-makers with a comprehensive, actionable outlook on public health risks across Europe and beyond.
The session began with an engaging presentation and discussion on how to enhance the platform with additional parameters. In breakout sessions, participants explored and tested the prototype, helping the BSC development team identify its practical applications in daily work and the features that need improvement. This valuable feedback will help refine the tool and present information in a more user-friendly way.
Key stakeholders attended the workshop, including representatives from the Public Health Agency of Barcelona, local councils, la Generalitat de Catalunya, MosquitoAlert, ISGlobal, the Red Cross Climate Centre, and others. The diversity of perspectives provided a broad range of needs and suggestions, demonstrating the strong interest in the platform and its potential impact.
