The online launch of EpiOutlook took place on 15 June 2026. The session brought together the platform’s development team and a panel of stakeholders from across the European and global health community to discuss both the tool itself and the broader challenge of anticipating climate-sensitive disease risks in Europe.
The first part of the session featured a presentation of EpiOutlook by the team at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center — Rachel Lowe, Diana Urquiza, Rebeca Nunez, Emily Ball and Emma Roberts — covering the platform’s architecture, the data sources it draws on, and the co-creation process that shaped its development.
The second part was a panel discussion moderated by Jan Semenza, with contributions from Aleksandra Kazmierczak (EEA), Esther Kukielka (ECDC), Paolo Tizzani (WOAH) and Rita Araujo (European Commission). The discussion focused on the near-term outlook for climate-sensitive infectious diseases in Europe and how platforms like EpiOutlook can support decision-making at institutional level.
