The IDAlert is making progress in understanding how climate change influences the emergence and spread of infectious diseases across its six case study sites. Among these, Bangladesh stands out as our only non-European case study, where we are actively working to monitor disease-carrying vectors and assess climate-related health risks.
As part of this initiative, our partner icddr,b has launched vector surveillance activities in Teknaf municipality, beginning in 2025. To support this rollout, a coordination meeting was held on January 15, 2025, in Teknaf, bringing together local authorities and key stakeholders. This collaboration is essential to ensuring the successful implementation and long-term sustainability of the project.
Notably, vector surveillance efforts under IDAlert were already conducted in Dhaka City Corporation areas throughout 2024, yielding valuable insights that now serve as a strong foundation for the expansion into Teknaf.
More updates about our activities in Bangladesh will follow!
